Job summary

CDM Smith in Kansas City is seeking an instrumentation and controls engineer to design and develop systems using 3D/4D practices, create P&IDs, and assist with testing and startup of control systems.

You will lead and mentor junior staff, support proposals and marketing activities, and contribute to the Automation strategy. Domestic/international travel may be required; up to 20-40% of time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Responsibilities

• Creates instrumentation, controls designs using 3D/4D design practices; assists with specs and PLC/HMI work.
• Reviews component shop drawings and contractor clarifications; assists with testing oversight.
• Develops P&IDs, control system architectures, specifications and descriptions.
• Leads junior staff and provides direction and mentoring.
• Assists in proposal sections and presentations; supports automation strategy.
• Performs other duties as required.
