Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an Automation and Controls Engineer for the Starmind initiative. You will design, build, and test automation hardware and software for on-orbit AI compute systems, spanning assembly, integration, and testing of high-performance electrical/electronic hardware.

You will develop PLC code, ensure factory safety compliance, and create user-friendly HMI interfaces while coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet production milestones in a demanding

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering, physics, or computer science discipline.
• 1+ years of experience in industrial or factory automation design and implementation or involvement with a project team designing and building electro-mechanical/robotic/automated systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and manage automation projects from ideation to hand-off.
• Architect, write, and debug PLC code with maintainable, reusable structure.
• Ensure safety/compliance per ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA for robots and conveyors.
• Develop simple yet effective HMI screens for machine operation and troubleshooting.
• Design electrical systems compliant with NEC, NFPA, and UL508A.
• Create schedules and budgets and motivate team to meet them.
