Job description

As an Automation / Controls Engineer, you will work independently or with a team to design, develop, test, and maintain PLC-based automation systems. These include PLC, HMI, Flow Computers, Loading Controllers, and other industrial automation devices. This position requires developing control narratives, cause and effect matrices, data maps, and other customer-requested documentation. Besides programming and documentation, you will troubleshoot wiring and programming issues during project commissioning. The Automation Engineer fosters productive internal and external relationships and may provide guidance and training to team members.

Technical Responsibilities:

1. Provide engineering and technical support for process control, instrumentation, and measurement technologies.
2. Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) software.
3. Evaluate and troubleshoot application programming code.
4. Knowledge of PLC & HMI platforms, including Allen Bradley, GE, Schneider Electric, and others.
5. Install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain end devices, including transmitters, VFDs, soft-starters, flow computers, & loading controllers.
6. Experience with truck loading systems, including TMS, Multiloads, or Acculoads, is a plus.
7. Ability to read P&ID and electrical diagrams and review design/construction drawing packages.
8. Provide on-site services, including overseeing system installation, leading commissioning efforts, and troubleshooting for industrial applications.
9. Apply electronics principles to identify equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operation.
10. Troubleshoot electrical wiring issues during startup and commissioning phases.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of 3 years in Industrial Automation & Controls Engineering.
2. Oil & Gas or Heavy Industrial Automation experience preferred.
3. Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering.
4. Possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) from the TSA.
5. Effective communication skills with team members and customers.
6. Ability to work remotely with 25-50% travel within the USA, depending on project requirements.
