Job summary

AAE North America is seeking a Mechanical Applications Engineer to travel across North America, understanding customer challenges and delivering comprehensive automation proposals. You will work with the Sales and Engineering teams to translate requirements into 2D/3D concepts, budgets, and technical documentation, ensuring a strong customer-fit solution.

The role requires reading mechanical drawings, CAD concept skills, and effective communication with internal teams and vendor partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5+ years automation industry experience is preferred.
• Experience with quoting, sales and customer interaction is a plus.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and part prints.
• Ability to develop quick CAD concepts.
• Understanding of electrical and pneumatic controls is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Meet with customers with the sales team to evaluate automation project opportunities.
• Evaluate opportunities for technical feasibility, economic value, and strategic fit.
• Visit customer sites to gather data and photos for opportunities.
• Review RFQ/RFP/URS and identify key automation requirements.
• Create internal summaries and concept designs for review.
• Develop budgetary estimates with vendors and prepare proposal sections.
• Serve as a bridge between Sales and Engineering through project handover.
