Location: 715 Fountain Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601

We are a rapidly expanding organization seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer. You will be responsible for maintaining and updating machinery across the company, following our Obsolescence Mitigation Plan. This includes managing sensors, drives, electrical components, and programming updates for PLCs & HMIs.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead and maintain Ecore’s Machine Obsolescence Mitigation Plan to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in equipment systems (sensors, automation, controls, actuators, UI, etc.).
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on control systems and drives.
  • Develop and optimize preventive (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs based on data analysis.
  • Lead automation projects, including design, installation, and modifications.
  • Evaluate and implement system upgrades for improved reliability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, Quality, and IT teams to support operations.
  • Train technicians and operators on system updates and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of projects, system changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Report on system performance and project status regularly.
  • Provide technical leadership to maintenance teams, promoting best practices.
  • Stay current with automation technologies and standards, integrating them into practices.
  • Configure and program VFDs, PLCs, and HMIs.
  • Standardize and document solutions across all Ecore sites.
  • Implement and maintain equipment monitoring systems for process stability and reliability.
  • Approximately 10% travel required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 5+ years experience in automation, electrical engineering, or mechatronics in manufacturing or industry.
  • Proficiency with Allen-Bradley, ABB, Siemens, and Yaskawa.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Experience with C++, Python, and Visual Basic for software development.
  • Knowledge of network topology.
  • API development experience preferred.
  • NEC (NFPA 70) certification preferred.
  • CAP (ISA) certification preferred.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills.
