Job summary

Jobtailor in Colorado is seeking an experienced Electrical Automation Engineer to create, design, and manage machine control and safety systems for food processing equipment. You will design PLC/PCB hardware and software, motor and pneumatic controls, vision systems, interlocks, cabling, and networking, while creating schematics and compiled code.

You will develop automation processes for high-yield production, collaborate with mechanical engineering on new products, and standardize PLC/HMI

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%
  • 5+ years of programming PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, VFDs, and SQL
  • Food Processing experience is a plus
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and computer literate with proven leadership skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction, manufacturing, and installation practices/techniques
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, drawings, and blueprints
  • Ability to write technical instructions and present information effectively
  • MS Office proficiency and good problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license and passport for international travel

Responsibilities

  • Create, design, and manage changes to machine control and safety systems for food processing equipment
  • Design PLC/PCB hardware and software, motor controls, pneumatic controls, vision systems, cabling, interlock devices, wiring, and networking components
  • Create and maintain schematics and compiled code
  • Design automation processes for high-yield, high-quality food production
  • Develop concepts to improve machinery and processes
  • Travel domestically and internationally for service calls and customer support
  • Assist with equipment start-ups and commissioning
  • Review automation design packages and assist with budgeting and planning
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering on new product development
  • Provide consultation on process controls and automation issues to stakeholders
  • Design systems to collect machinery and process data for analysis
  • Follow safety procedures and perform other assigned duties and projects

Job description

  • Create, design, and manage changes to machine control and safety systems for food processing equipment
  • Design PLC/PCB hardware and software, motor controls, pneumatic controls, vision systems, cabling, interlock devices, wiring, and networking components
  • Create and maintain schematics and compiled code
  • Design automation processes for high-yield, high-quality food production
  • Develop concepts to improve machinery and processes
  • Communicate with customers and company staff regarding automation issues
  • Develop training plans for released automation and controls technology
  • Propose and help implement innovations with Sales and Management
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering on new product development
  • Standardize PLC and HMI programs
  • Assist with equipment start-ups and commissioning
  • Review automation design packages
  • Assist with A&C department budgeting and new product development planning
  • Assist Supply Chain with electrical component issues
  • Suggest and implement machine improvements
  • Provide consultation on process controls and automation issues to domestic and international stakeholders and customers
  • Travel domestically and internationally for service calls and customer support
  • Perform process control evaluations at customer sites
  • Design systems to collect machinery and process data for analysis
  • Follow safety procedures and perform other assigned duties and special projects

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, a passport for international travel
