Job summary

Door Services Corporation is seeking an Automatic Door Installer to join our installation team in Durham, NC. You will assist in the installation of automatic door systems, take measurements, perform framing and build-ins, and ensure high-quality customer service at diverse job sites.

The role requires reading and interpreting documents, basic math, and the ability to work with a team. A valid driver's license is required and physical demands include heavy lifting and working at heights.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in glass and aluminum storefronts preferred.
• Electrical background preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in the Automatic Door Industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of automatic sliding, folding, revolving and swinging doors, operators and associated equipment.
• Assist with surveying and preparing worksite location for installation, including measurements, alterations and construction modifications.
• Assist with construction work such as framing and build-ins.
• Support safety program and follow safety policies on site, in warehouse and office.
• Verify tools and equipment are available and functioning before work begins.
• Document the work to be performed and review with the customer.
• Maintain equipment, tools and company vehicles.
• Keep parts inventory in vehicles and ready for job use.
• Represent Door Services with customers in a professional manner.
• Travel to customer locations within the service area safely.

Job description

Automatic Door Installer - $25-35 per hour

Join our growing team as an Installation Technician, where you’ll play a key role in the installation of state-of-the-art automatic door systems. In this hands-on position, you’ll assist with site preparation, take accurate measurements, perform construction work such as framing and build-ins, and support the successful completion of installation projects.

You’ll work alongside experienced technicians, maintain tools and equipment, follow safety best practices, and deliver exceptional customer service at a variety of job sites throughout Durham, NC and the surrounding communities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
• Experience in glass and aluminum store front preferred.
• Electrical background preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in the Automatic Door Industry is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate basic math including fractions and read a tape measure.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver’s license.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Proactively support our safety program and initiatives, comply with all safety policies and procedures and ensure utilization of safe work practices on site, in the warehouse and office.
• Evaluate and ensure prior to commencement of work, that the appropriate tools and equipment are working and/or available.
• Responsible for documenting the work to be performed and reviewing with the customer.
• Responsible for overseeing the care and maintenance of equipment, tools and vehicles provided by Door Services Corporation.
• Maintain that the appropriate parts inventory is in the company vehicles and ensure that items are available for work.
• Represent Door Services with customers and present them in a professional demeanor.
• Travel to customer locations throughout the service area while maintaining safe driving practices.
