Job summary

Oil-Dri Corporation of America is seeking an Operator, Packaging-Automated to run automated packaging lines in the Verge department and manage loading of trucks and data entry. You will monitor equipment, perform setup, inspections, and routine maintenance, while ensuring safety and quality throughout the shift.

The role requires reading specifications, interpreting data from electronic equipment, and maintaining PPE standards.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, comprehend, and act on product specs, SOPs, PWI, AIQ processes, and similar docs.
• Must read and monitor electronic equipment and interpret data.
• Must understand safety requirements and communications.
• Must visually differentiate products and hear warning alarms.
• Must use computer programs such as AS400, Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Must stand for the duration of the shift.
• Must lift 50 pounds frequently during the shift.
• Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairs/ladders are expected.
• Must climb ladders up to 110 feet.
• Must talk and hear radio communications and phone.
• Must operate with PPE as required in a hot/cold, dusty, loud plant.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and regulations.
• Operates automated packaging equipment across Verge department.
• Load trucks and perform necessary paperwork and data entry.
• Set up equipment, perform inspections, and minor adjustments.
• Perform manual tasks such as hand stacking when needed.
• Periodically weigh packages to ensure consistency.
• Conduct quality testing on raw, in-process, and final product.
• Generate work orders and document maintenance.
• Suggest safety, quality, and cost improvements.
• Operate Verge equipment per procedures and process parameters (various devices).
• Load trucks/rail cars and inspect supplies for quality.
• Prepare daily reports and handle daily computing.
• Maintain clean work area and assist with other duties.
