Job summary

Chewy is seeking an Automated Maintenance Technician II for our Jessup, PA Fulfillment Center. You will maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize electrical and mechanical systems across a large facility, including conveyors and sortation, while following safety and PPE guidelines.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with MHE, PLC basics, and wiring diagrams, plus strong problem-solving and teamwork across the organization.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Basic understanding of PLCs.
  • Familiar with wiring diagrams and electrical measuring.
  • Experience in work order management and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical aspects of MHE (conveyor systems, printers, sortation) on site.
  • Adjust scanners, cameras, scales, and print applicators.
  • Use job plans and manuals; maintain safety procedures and PPE.

Our Opportunity

Chewy is currently recruiting for an Automated Maintenance Technician II at our Jessup, PA Fulfillment Center! We are delighted to provide the opportunity to apply your outstanding experience to support the fast-paced operations of our multifaceted fulfillment center environment. Additionally, you will develop new and valuable skills and experience in the growing world of e-commerce fulfillment operations. This position will have a wide variety of facilities, maintenance, and utilities requirements across our large fulfillment center.

What You'll Do
  • Maintain, clean, lubricate, calibrate, and troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site (including conveyor systems, sortation systems, carton rectors, print and apply, compactors/balers) and motors, photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, encoders, etc.
  • Adjust scanners, cameras, scales, and printer applicators (PANDA)
  • Reset, repair, or replace adjustable components (belts, chains, cables) and wearing components (guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys)
  • Use appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals
  • Assist with basic electronics/ Programmable Logic Controls troubleshooting
  • Operate handheld devices or desktop PC to build and close Work Orders with appropriate data (labor hours, downtime,problem/cause/remedy,and parts used)
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of our organization
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards
What You’ll Need

Physical Demands (perform with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head
  • Walking within and around our site with excellent frequency (Up and down several flights of stairs) and stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours
  • Ability to climb ladders safely and without limitation, and work off platforms and equipment at significant heights
  • Full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists, eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)
  • Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and or uneven surfaces
Qualifications
  • PC proficiency and ability to use handheld devices
  • Familiar with wiring diagrams, symbols, and electrical measuring
  • Experience in work order management, preventive/predictivemaintenance procedures, Industrial Controls and Electronics, troubleshoot basic Input/Output functions
  • Basic blueprint and schematic reading and metal fabrication and welding
  • Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
Desired Qualifications
  • Degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field, and/or 3-5 years hands on previous experience in related field.
  • Experience with automated conveyor systems and controls
  • Experience with MHE safety standards
