Location: Asheboro, NC
Shift: 6PM - 6AM (2-2-3 rotating schedule)

Job Description: Operating automated machines such as CNC or other equipment, either as a single step or process, including setup and operation of complex, customized production equipment to manufacture company products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture sufficient quantities of quality products at or below budgeted costs to meet demand.
  • Set up equipment, including feed, speed, and temperature, following established procedures for conventional and CNC manufacturing equipment such as cutting, punching, forming, drilling, tapping, turning, milling, and stamping.
  • Select and measure raw materials and parts to specifications for production processing.
  • Resolve issues related to production, machinery, processing, and packaging operations.
  • May include basic programming tasks.
  • Set up and operate machine tools like mill-turns, mills, lathes, or grinders efficiently and timely.
  • Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines.
  • Read blueprints and check work using quality control gauges.
  • Move materials necessary to complete assignments.
  • Inspect machined products with precision gauges to ensure quality standards.
  • Perform a series of machining operations on CNC machines, selecting proper cutters, adjusting feeds and speeds, and replacing cutters as needed.
  • Operate multiple CNC machines simultaneously if required.
  • Support operations with technical tasks such as IT development, research, or skilled trades.

Education and Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing or machine operation.
  • High School Degree required.
  • Vocational training, apprenticeship, or certification preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience with automated/CNC work required.

Basic Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to modify G-code programs and handle standard CNC tasks.
  • Knowledge of analytical/scientific methods and operational processes.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and scientific methods.
  • Effective communication skills for verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret process instructions and drawings.
  • Adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Support Lean initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Intermediate knowledge of GD&T and use of precision measurement tools.
  • Knowledge of shop math, geometry, and conversions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and teamwork skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Notes: Work with moderate supervision, with minimal variability in daily tasks.
