Role Overview

The Automated Equipment Specialist I is an entry‑level position within the Automated Equipment Maintenance team. The team focuses on maintaining equipment that operates autonomously or with minimal human intervention, such as robotics, conveyor systems, and automated assembly lines. Responsibilities include mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance, predictive maintenance using sensor data, integration of automated equipment with data networks, and support of cross‑functional operations, quality, and engineering functions.

Responsibilities
  • Daily preventive and breakdown maintenance of automated production equipment.
  • Basic maintenance of manufacturing and laboratory equipment control systems, robotic systems, and related components.
  • Maintain integration of automated equipment with data networks, control systems, and software interfaces.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance techniques and analyze data from sensors and electronic devices to anticipate and prevent equipment failures.
  • Diagnose basic automated equipment malfunctions and perform basic repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Perform preventive maintenance optimization, maintain accurate documentation, support installation and validation of automated equipment, and identify safety, quality, and productivity issues.
  • Adhere to EHS guidelines and contribute to continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace while working under close supervision.
  • Work cross‑functionally with operations, quality, and engineering.
Physical Attributes
  • Physical flexibility to interact with and troubleshoot machinery.
  • Exposure to chemical reagents.
  • Use of hand and power tools.
  • Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying of 26–50 lbs.
  • Bend, squat, stoop, and kneel.
  • Pinch, grasp, and manipulate objects consistently.

Shift

2nd Shift: 2 PM – 10 PM.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of automation experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in equipment maintenance or a related position.
  • Associate’s degree in a Life Science discipline.
  • Basic electromechanical and controls knowledge, including troubleshooting of process/equipment designs.
  • Potential to become a Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of EH&S, ISO, cGMP, and regulatory requirements; familiarity with lock‑out/tag‑out and OSHA electrical safety.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CAD drawings/schematics, Lean/Six Sigma, precision measurement tools, basic robotics, and drive installation/configuration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience collaborating cross‑functionally.
Pay Range

$24 – $39 per hour, depending on location, experience, education, and other job‑related factors. The position may be eligible for sales or performance‑based bonuses.
