Job SummaryCNS is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Drafter III to provide drafting support services for a federal power marketing administration. This role is critical to the development, revision, and management of engineering drawings and technical documentation, supporting both manual drafting and computer-aided design (CAD) systems.This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong CAD proficiency and a commitment to precision, technical accuracy, and effective coordination with engineering and operations teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDrafting & Design ExecutionProduce new drawings and revise existing ones using AutoCAD and other approved CAE systems.Translate rough sketches, marked prints, and electronic files into final drawing packages.Utilize agency-approved templates, symbols, and formats; maintain compliance with established standards and data accuracy.Quality Assurance & StandardsPerform quality checks for dimensions, details, and completeness.Ensure all drawings align with engineering standards and agency protocols.Collaborate with HQ personnel to verify revisions and support centralized standards enforcement.Drawing & Document ManagementMaintain control and tracking of all drawing files using the Drawing Information System (DIS).Track status, revisions, and locations of both physical and digital drawings.Coordinate filing, storage, retrieval, and archival of all completed drawings according to WAPA standards.System Administration & SupportOperate and support CAD systems on the WAPA LAN/WAN environment.Maintain electronic libraries and indexes by facility ID (FID).Support printers, plotters, drivers, and file transfer operations on local and remote servers.Project CoordinationManage drafting assignments according to priorities and deadlines set by the COR or CO.Interface with engineers, technicians, and other departments to gather information and clarify drawing requirements.Work with outside utilities on joint facility drawings and coordination efforts.Research & Data ManagementConduct drawing research and request documentation through HQ Central Files.Maintain the Facility Reference Information System (FRIS) SharePoint site with key drawing sets, diagrams, and photographic records.Prepare and log project requests, transmittal letters, and documentation packages.Support TasksReserve drawing numbers and manage revision blocks.Maintain adequate stock of drafting and reproduction supplies.Perform copying, scanning, and operate reproduction equipment as needed.Assist engineering personnel with data research related to design, maintenance, and operations.Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical certification in drafting preferred.Minimum of 5 years drafting experience with demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD.Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.Familiarity with Auto LISP enhancements and CAE tools preferred.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple drafting projects simultaneously.Excellent interpersonal skills for working with engineering staff, contractors, and administrative personnel.Certifications (Preferred)AutoCAD CertificationCAE Software Training/CertificationWork Environment & Physical RequirementsOffice-based environment with routine use of computers, plotters, printers, and drafting tools.Must be able to sit, stand, and use hands for extended periods.Occasional lifting of up to [insert weight limit] lbs may be required.Travel RequirementsMinimal travel may be required to support project documentation or coordination at other locations.Security & ComplianceMust be authorized to work in the U.S.Must be able to pass a Federal Background CheckAbout CNSCNS proudly serves the federal market with turnkey construction and technical services.
