Actalent in Sussex, WI is seeking a mechanical drafter to translate specifications into detailed layouts and drawings for machinery. You will modify existing 3D models in SolidWorks and assist engineers with design tasks.

You will compile Bills of Materials, ECNs, and maintain design documentation while supporting Lean initiatives and cross-functional collaboration to ensure manufacturability and quality.

Qualifications

• Strong math, blueprint reading skills.
• Excellent computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and SolidWorks. AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Team player and self-motivated. Ability to work attentively and efficiently at producing high quality work.
• Strong mechanical aptitude. Basic knowledge of industrial machines and manufacturing processes and tools.

Job Summary:

Responsible for helping deliver profitable growth by working from specifications to produce layouts, make modifications on standard models and drawings for machinery. Performs some detailing of engineering concepts as directed. Compile and maintain required documents and records.

• Demonstrate company values.
• Contribute to the company safety program.
• Compile Bills of Materials and specification sheets.
• Modify or adjust existing 3D models according to defined specifications.
• Participate in Lean initiatives. Recommend and help implement improvements.
• Study and analyze blue prints and computer or hand generated technical drawings.
• Complete investigations pertinent to the design. Maintain records, documents and findings.
• Prioritize and complete work timely, anticipating and communicating necessary shifts in project timelines.
• Perform drafting, and assist Engineers and Drafter-Designers with designing products or facilities.
• Work from standard product specifications using manufacturing and material quotes to guide design decisions.
• Complete timely ECNs as required. Maintain ECN procedures and documentation in PDM when creating and redesigning existing products.
• Collaborate with shop personnel to ensure design manufacturability, efficiency, and an appropriate combination of cost and quality are achieved.
• Use Solidworks, Solidworks PDM, MS Office and other business programs as directed. Complete required reports, documentation and approvals.
• Work independently and as part of a team to produce or modify a variety of standard layouts, assemblies, and drawings for new and existing products.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Strong math, blueprint reading skills, and use of technical instructions is required.
• Excellent computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and SolidWorks. AutoCAD experience is a plus.

• Strong mechanical aptitude. Basic knowledge of industrial machines and manufacturing processes and tools.
• Knowledge of characteristics of metals, production techniques, and how these impact the quality of the form, fit and function of the designed components and systems is ideal
• Knowledge of manufacturing process and can apply them to technical drawing layout to communicate design intent

including appropriate use of datum, tolerancing and GD&T

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sussex, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
