General Summary:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for all aspects of the paint application process, minor repairs, sanding, grinding, and paint preparation. On an as-needed basis, also responsible for duties related to Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II, Flow Inventory Associate II, Senior Reconditioning Associate, and Senior Reconditioning Associate I.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete paint application
• Perform minor repairs, including sanding and grinding
• Prepare paint, including color matching and mixing
• Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities with the team
• Execute standardized work as defined
• Ensure all vehicles meet CarMax Paint Standards
• Maintain, repair, and clean equipment as required
• Maintain proper inventory levels of PPE, tools, and chemicals for all Senior Reconditioning Associates
• Keep the workplace clean and organized according to CarMax 5S standards
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
• Perform interior and exterior detailing, interior repairs, inventory, and paint preparation functions
• Complete additional duties as assigned by managers

• Meet performance standards for various reconditioning roles
• Complete workstation certifications for relevant roles
• Read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately
• Discern appropriate paint colors for vehicle reconditioning
• Perform multiple duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
• Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs
• Effective communication skills in dealing with customers and associates
• Complete CarMax training in all functional areas for cross-training

Working Conditions:

• Indoor and outdoor environments; may include noisy or inclement weather conditions
• Adhere to all CarMax policies and government regulations including OSHA and EPA standards
• Require extended walking or standing
• Variable work schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and long shifts
