Job description

A mid-level vehicle technician provides high-quality vehicle maintenance and repairs for fleet vehicles. They offer service and delivery of vehicles with exceptional customer service, while being mindful of cost control. The technician may work independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance such as changing oil, oil filters, fuel filters, conducting transmission flushes, and inspecting vehicles for mechanical deficiencies.
  • Perform complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, and fabrication tasks.
  • Based on certification levels, perform repairs and maintenance including OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension parts, aerial lifts, electrical systems, safety inspections, interior/exterior components, engine and drivetrain components, etc.
  • Maintain and repair equipment like cable trailers and laptop docking stations.
  • Keep the shop area clean and safe, disposing of fluids properly and following regulations.
  • Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records; upfit new vehicles with necessary equipment.
  • Ensure availability of specialized trucks by troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems, generators, electrical systems, hybrids, and onboard computer systems.
  • Engage in equipment design and moderate fabrication tasks, including welding, for custom equipment needs.
  • Coordinate with vendors for parts and repairs to ensure prompt service; perform roadside assistance as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
  • High school diploma or GED, or 3+ years of related vehicle servicing experience.
  • 3+ years of vehicle service and repair experience.
  • Ability to drive both standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Preferred:
  • Ongoing training to maintain current A.S.E. status and adapt to technological and fleet changes.
  • Some A.S.E. Automotive or Truck Certification or related certifications.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, squatting, climbing, and exposure to noise, exhaust fumes, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Salary range: USD 21.49 - 32.26 per hour. Compensation may include additional incentives or commissions. Employees receive at least sixteen hours of paid time off monthly, plus seven paid holidays, with additional leave options available.
