Job summary

Poway Unified School District is seeking an Instructional Assistant - Vocational Education to support certificated teachers in delivering hands-on career-technical instruction. You will assist in classrooms, prepare materials, monitor student progress, and help maintain a safe and organized learning environment.

This position requires collaboration with staff, adherence to health and safety practices, and basic record-keeping.

Qualifications

Two years of related vocational education support experience preferred.
Ability to assist certificated teachers and follow lesson plans.
Strong communication and organizational skills are required.

Responsibilities

Assists a certificated teacher in providing instruction and reinforces lessons.
Monitors and supervises students during drills, practices, and assignments.
Communicates with teachers, staff, and students to relay information and resolve issues.
Maintains health and safety practices and a clean learning environment.
Monitors inventory levels and assists in ordering supplies.
Operates classroom equipment and related instructional tools.
Performs clerical tasks including attendance, grading support, and record keeping.
Prepares classroom materials, displays, and equipment for lessons.
Provides instructional support to students individually or in small groups.
Supports health and safety of students and maintains safe learning spaces.
