Job summary

Pep Boys Inc. is seeking a General Service Technician to perform basic automotive services and tire-related tasks while delivering an excellent customer experience.

You will maintain clean and safe work areas in the tire and service department and may advise customers on recommended services. Responsibilities include learning to diagnose basic automotive issues, performing oil changes, tire maintenance, battery checks, and assisting other technicians.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Passion for a career as an automotive technician.
• Eager to learn and competitive to succeed.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays and weekends as needed.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

• Learn to diagnose and repair basic automotive systems including brakes, alignments, suspensions, cooling and electrical.
• Continuously learn new technical information in formal training sessions to stay current with automotive technology.
• Change engine oil and filter.
• Install and perform tire maintenance.
• Install batteries and check starting/charging systems.
• Install headlights and other small bulbs.
• Repair flat tires.
• Stock and unload tires.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep management informed of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
• Keep the shop clean, organized and safe.
• Adhere to all company policy, safety and environmental rules.
