Job summary

Big O Tires is seeking a General Service Technician to perform tire service, oil changes, and related automotive tasks with emphasis on customer service. You will load, unload, and stock supplies, assist customers, and help maintain a clean, safe shop environment.

The role requires reliability, safety awareness, and the ability to operate various tools and equipment. This position emphasizes timely service, adherence to company policies, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Age 17+ with parental consent or older.
• Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials.
• Ability to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
• Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
• Ability to exchange accurate information with customers.
• Willingness to work with hazardous materials.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to comply with PPE regulations.
• Valid driver's license.
• Vision, hearing, speech, and odor detection abilities.
• Ability to lift/move items up to 75 pounds.
• Availability to work holidays, weekends, and after hours.
• English language proficiency for communication with customers and coworkers.
• Pre-employment screenings.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to obtain a Current Motor Vehicle Inspection license within 6 months (Missouri stores).

Responsibilities

• Drain oil and change oil filter; lubricate vehicles; install, rotate and balance tires; torque wheels; check/fill fluids and replace filters/lights.
• Unload tires and merchandise from deliveries.
• Inspect disposed tires for adjustment and disposal.
• Maintain store appearance and stock shelves.
• Provide fast and friendly customer service.
• Explain benefits of service/products to promote sales.
• Perform pricing, promotions, and vendor checks as needed.
• Explain and adhere to Big O Tires standards.
• Safely operate customer vehicles in service areas.
• Complete required trainings and inform supervisor of issues.
• Assist in training new employees.
