Job summary

Commercial Tire Inc. in Idaho Falls, ID is seeking an Auto Service Tech Level 3 to inspect and service vehicles, perform preventive maintenance, tire rotations, alignments, and fluid exchanges.

This full-time role requires safety-minded technicians to meet manufacturer specifications and company standards. You will mentor junior techs, maintain tools and equipment, and pursue required ASE certifications (A4/A5) and 609 AC as part of ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
• 3 to 5 years related experience and/or technical training.
• ASE certification A4 and A5.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Complete vehicle inspection every time and communicate to the front counter items needing repair.
• Inspect and recommend repairs/services using the Vehicle Inspection Report.
• Mentor other Auto Service Techs 1 and 2.
• Perform vehicle alignments according to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Maintain shop equipment and safety practices.
• Diagnose/mechanical issues and repair brakes, steering, suspension, transmission, etc.
• Serve customer vehicles according to Commercial Tire guidelines.
• Initiate/track parts orders as needed and ensure certifications stay current.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance such as tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, alignments, oil changes, replacing filters, and fluid exchanges.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completed vehicle inspection every time and communicates to the front counter the items that may need to be repaired.
• Consistently Inspect and recommend needed repairs and/or services using the vehicles inspection report.
  • Proper completion of Vehicle Inspection Report
• Mentors other Auto Service Techs 1 and 2.
• Perform vehicle alignments according to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Responsible for maintaining shop equipment and safety practices.
• Detect and perform mechanical issues, installation and repairs to brake, steering, suspension, transmission etc.
• Service customer vehicles according to Commercial Tires guidelines.
• Recommend products and services as needed.
• May initiate purchase orders for parts; support and track purchasing and returns.
• Completes all necessary training within 1 year and is required to maintain certifications.
  • ASE A7 – Heat and Air Systems or 609 AC
  • ASE A6 – Electrical Systems
• 609 AC certification is required for air conditioning service repair.
• Participates in and completes all required training (example: Valvoline, TIA, safety, etc.).
• Supports company safety and operational standards and adheres to all audit requirements.
• Assist with phones, front counter, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FUNCTIONS

Physical Demands:

• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces
• Frequent lifting/carrying: up to 50 lbs
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for grasping and dexterity
• Constant visual, auditory, and verbal communication required
• Frequent exposure to noise, dirt, dust, mechanical vibration, fumes, and outdoor conditions
• Occasional work in extreme heat/cold or wet/humid environments
• Occasional hazards due to mechanical equipment and moving objects
