Job summary

Commercial Tire in Kuna, ID is hiring an Auto Service Technician – Level 1. This full-time role involves inspecting vehicles and performing preventive maintenance such as tire rotations, oil changes, and brake checks while following manufacturer specifications.

You will communicate findings to the front counter, assist with techs, and support inventory management. ASE certifications or training are encouraged; 6 months related experience is preferred, and a valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles and communicate recommended repairs before the car leaves the shop.
• Perform preventive maintenance such as tire rotation, oil changes, and fluid exchanges.
• Change, balance, and replace tires; ensure proper torquing on all jobs.
• Assist with phones, front counter, and inventory as needed.

Job Title: Auto Service Technician – Level 1

Reports to: Store Manager (or similar position)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Type: Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Auto Service Technician Is responsible for inspecting and testing vehicles completing preventive maintenance such as tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, alignments, oil changes, replacing filters, and fluid exchanges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Completed vehicle inspection every time and communicates to the front counter the items that may need to be repaired before the car leaves the shop.
• Consistently inspect and recommend needed repairs and/or services using the vehicles inspection report.
• Able to perform the following according to manufactures specifications:
  • Vehicle alignments
  • Vehicle fluid exchanges
  • Evaluate brake condition and recommend repair
  • Oil Changes / Air Filters
• Change, repair, balance, and replace tires ensures proper torquing on all jobs.
• Monitor & replenish lube related inventory.
• Recommend products and services when needed.
• Completes all necessary training and is required to maintain certifications (or equivalent i.e., Ford)
  • ASE A5 – Brakes within 1 year of being in position OR
  • ASE G1 – Maintenance and Light Repair
• Assist with phones, front counter, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FUNCTIONS

Physical Demands:

• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces
• Frequent lifting/carrying: up to 50 lbs
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for grasping and dexterity
• Constant visual, auditory, and verbal communication required
• Frequent exposure to noise, dirt, dust, mechanical vibration, fumes, and outdoor conditions
• Occasional work in extreme heat/cold or wet/humid environments
• Occasional hazards due to mechanical equipment and moving objects

Equipment Operated:

• Computer and Keyboard
• Tire machines, compressors, air tools and hand tools
• Company-provided software and system for work orders and inventory
• Required to use protective gear (PPE)
