Job summary

The Auto Body Painter performs skilled work in preparing metal, plastic and other surfaces on automotive equipment for painting and in applying base coat and clear coat. Refinished vehicles should be in accordance with CollisionRight’s specifications and standards.

Essential duties include surface prep, masking, sanding, primer/base/clear coat application, and maintaining spray equipment. Safety rules apply and precision and color matching are required in a production setting.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in auto body painting and surface preparation.
• Ability to correctly prepare surfaces for painting and apply primers, base coats and clear coats.
• Skill in selecting and mixing paints, matching colors and using spray guns safely.
• Strong safety awareness and use of PPE in a production environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and color perception.

Responsibilities

• Proper preparation of surfaces and application of painting materials to exterior surfaces.
• Masking glass, trim and parts not to be painted; sanding and cleaning surfaces.
• Applying primer, base coats and clear coat using waterborne or solvent-based systems.
• May assist with body work and maintain spray guns and equipment.
• Inspect painted vehicles to ensure quality; work in a fast-paced environment.
