Job summary

Harrisburg School District is seeking a dedicated Special Education teacher for elementary to secondary levels. Requirements include a PA teaching certificate in Special Education (K-8 or K-12) and strong communication abilities; Autism Support experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid PA teaching certificate in Special Education K-8 or K-12 is required.
• Experience teaching Autism Support students is preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication, ability to interact with students, staff and parents.

Responsibilities

• Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, health and science within scope of PA certification.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials; provides individualized and small group instruction.
• Establishes standards of student behavior and maintains a safe learning atmosphere.
• Communicates with parents to discuss progress and school program.
• Administers assessments and maintains records, prepares progress reports.
