Job summary

The Public Schools of Northborough-Southborough seeks a Special Education Teacher for the Neary Elementary Castle Program. The role focuses on supporting students on the Autism Spectrum and implementing IEPs within a CASTLE setting.

Responsibilities include direct service, inclusion, collaboration with related services, and meticulous documentation to comply with IDEA. You will assess students, monitor progress, communicate with families, and participate in IEP meetings and district-wide

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid Massachusetts DESE licensure in special education moderate or severe disabilities
• Prior successful classroom teaching experiences
• Demonstrates knowledge of effective instructional strategies and assessment methods
• Understands core, supplemental, and intervention programs
• Models explicit systematic instruction and strategies
• Interprets diagnostic, formative, and summative data for instructional decisions
• Participates in regular student-based and IEP meetings
• Maintains professional knowledge and skills for school improvement
• Knows strategies for diverse learners
• Works without constant supervision
• Familiar with state/district standards and instructional resources
• Proficient with technology including data systems

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe functional learning environment
• Identifies students’ needs and collaborates on data assessment and intervention strategies
• Assess and progress monitor students’ academic growth and maintain records
• Provide targeted instruction
• Assist staff with interpretation of assessment data to inform instruction
• Support school improvement plan and district initiatives
• Adhere to state and district intervention practices
• Attend site-based meetings and data teams
• Collaborate with staff on instruction and intervention
• Support IEP goals and district curriculum alignment
• Participate in curriculum development
• Align standards with instructional materials and activities
• Participate in curriculum committees, meetings and trainings
• Comply with district testing programs
• Maintain regular attendance
• Complete other non-administrative duties
