Job summary

Woodridge Elementary School District 68 is seeking a Learning Program (MLP) Teaching Assistant for an elementary setting. This 7-hour-per-day paraprofessional role supports students with special needs and helps implement instructional tasks aligned with IEP goals.

The candidate will work with teachers, support staff, and students, perform supervision duties, and assist with self-care, mobility, and participation in specials. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• Must possess a PEL with Paraprofessional Statement of Approval issued by ISBE.
• Certification and qualifications as set by the State Board of Education and the School Code.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be found appropriate by the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

• Provides feedback with teachers and related service providers regarding student progress, interests, or challenges.
• Assists with organization and implementation of instructional tasks and materials to support learning.
• Works with individuals and small groups as directed to reinforce and expand skills.
• Records observations of student behaviors and performance aligned to IEP goals.
• Assists with duties such as door duty, hall duty, and recess duty.
• Participates in in-service training and uses prompting strategies to maximize student independence.
• Assists with behavior management under teacher direction and follows intervention plans.
• Maintains confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Assists with self-care needs and mobility as required in the school environment.
• Supports participation in specials (art, PE, music, etc.) and other duties as assigned.
