Job summary

Peace of Mind Duluth, Inc. is hiring an Autism Support Specialist (DSP) to provide individualized 2:1 and 1:1 support within our Community Services program.

You will build genuine relationships, learn each individual's communication style, and tailor support to their goals and interests. Responsibilities include planning meaningful activities, supporting nonverbal individuals, teaching independent living skills, documenting services, and coordinating with the team to ensure consistent care.

Qualifications

• Previous DSP or direct care experience preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism or developmental disabilities preferred.
• Comfortable working one-on-one and as part of a 2:1 support team.
• Willingness to learn individualized communication methods.
• Reliable attendance and communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2:1 and 1:1 individualized support.
• Support individuals who are nonverbal or use alternative communication forms.
• Plan and participate in meaningful community activities.
• Help individuals make choices and participate in daily planning.
• Teach and reinforce independent living and community skills.
• Provide redirection and support with community safety when needed.
• Follow individualized support plans and behavioral strategies.
• Complete required documentation after services.
• Communicate with team members and leadership for consistent support.
