Job summary

Life’s WORC in St. James, NY is seeking a Direct Care Staff member to provide ongoing protective oversight for individuals in residence.

You will implement Residential Habilitation Plans and support life skills, working 32 hours per week Fri-Mon 3pm-11pm. Requirements include High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, 1 year experience with Autism, valid NY driver’s license; duties include daily living assistance, data collection, driving agency vans, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year experience supporting people with Autism.
• Prior experience assisting persons with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid New York State Driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing protective oversight to individuals living in the residence.
• Implementation of Residential Habilitation Plans.
• Implement innovative Behavior Support Plans with data to measure progress.
• Provide assistance and instruction in basic activities of daily living.
• Provide training and support in accordance with the individual program plan.
• Assist in two-person lifts when necessary and ensure safety.
• Complete AMAP course and Life’s WORC Autism Training Workshop.
• Drive agency vans with GPS; maintain logs and vehicle cleanliness.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment and safe use of equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide ongoing protective oversight to individuals living in the residence.
• Implementation of Residential Habilitation Plans.
• Implement innovative Behavior Support Plans with effectiveness and efficiency ensuring that accurate data is being collected to measure each person’s progress.
• Provide assistance and instruction to each individual in basic activities of daily living.
• Provide training and support for each individual in accordance with the individual program plan.
• Provide assistance and instruction to each individual in basic activities of daily living which could include two person lift of individuals where necessary
• Successful completion of the AMAP course and annual recertification for administration purposes.
• Successful completion of the Life’s WORC Autism Training Workshop.
• Scheduling flexibility. May be required to work beyond the normal shift.
• Drive agency vans that are equipped with GPS monitoring systems and demonstrate safe driving practices. Ensure cleanliness of vehicles. Maintain vehicle logs.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment. Proper use and maintenance of household equipment and appliances.
