Job summary

COWETA COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for Arbor Springs Elementary School to support the Adapted Curriculum Autism classroom. The role involves assisting the teacher with instructional delivery, preparing materials, and maintaining student records throughout a 183-day school year.

The position requires Paraprofessional Certification (or equivalent) or 90 quarter hours/60 semester hours, with mindset safety/deescalation training preferred.

Qualifications

• Qualify for Paraprofessional Certificate by Associate degree or 90 quarter hours or pass the GACE assessment.
• Mindset Safety Management - Deescalation training or willingness to receive training.
• Experience working with and directing the activities of children, preferably children with Autism.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to Adapted Curriculum Autism classroom teacher(s) in implementing instructional programs.
• Meet and instruct groups and individuals as designated by the teacher.
• Assist in preparing materials and organizing instruction within curriculum guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records and assist in data collection for review by the teacher.
• Support behavioral interventions and sensory strategies as directed by the teacher.
