Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Teacher for Special Education Autism for 1st-3rd grade at Webster Elementary in Mesa, AZ. The role develops individualized instruction aligned to district standards and IEP goals, delivering engaging lessons and monitoring progress.

The teacher will foster a positive educational environment, coordinate with families and related services, and implement district curricula to meet diverse student needs daily.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field.
• Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate, appropriate for subject area.
• Course work should include Foundations of special education, behavior management techniques, assessment and evaluation methods, instructional strategies for students with disabilities and inclusive teaching practices

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials.
• Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques.
• Considers individual learning needs and abilities of students, as well as school and district goals, in lesson plans and assessment documents.
• Utilizes district-adopted textbooks and curriculum guides in planning and implementation.
• Incorporates higher level thinking strategies and real-life applications into lesson planning.
• Creates instructional materials and assessment documents aligned with objectives.
• Uses technology to enhance learning experiences.
• Collects student achievement data and uses it to inform instructional decisions.
• Establishes positive classroom management in line with policies and regulations.
• Develops IEPs for each student and aligns instruction to IEP goals.
• Maintains open communication with students and parents about progress.
• Works with parents, school personnel and other agencies to provide appropriate education.
• Maintains student records relating to achievement, attendance and discipline.
• Provides a safe learning environment and supports school goals.
