Job summary

Washoe County School District in Reno seeks a Paraeducator Assistant II in Special Education. Under general supervision, you will assist teaching staff with individual and small group instruction, and help develop and maintain records and instructional materials.

Qualifications

• Completion of 48 semester or 60 quarter units from an accredited college or university, desirably in child development, education, special education, or related field.
• One year of experience that demonstrates ability to perform duties such as student instructional activities or personal guidance of students within an organized program.
• Two years of experience as a Paraeducator aide or related experience in student instructional activities or personal guidance within an organized program.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing lesson outlines and plans in assigned areas; develop teaching aids and instructional materials.
• Assist in planning, preparing and developing various teaching aids and materials.
• Observe progress and problem areas of students for referral to the classroom teacher; confer with teacher and parent on progress.
• Maintain classroom order and support discipline in playgrounds, lunchrooms, halls and study areas.
