Job summary

Shema Kolainu – Hear Our Voices seeks a dedicated Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) to support children with ASD across Bronx and Queens. You will develop and implement IEPs, provide direct instruction in schools, homes, and community settings, and collaborate with families and therapists to promote inclusion and independence.

The role requires a Master’s in Special Education, a valid Special Education Certification, and 2 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Special Education or related field is required.
• Special Education Certification is required.
• 2 years of experience in autism education and related developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills are essential.
• Ability to collaborate with families, teachers, and therapists to support students.
• Flexibility to work in schools, homes, and community-based locations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized educational plans for children with ASD and related developmental disabilities
• Provide direct instruction and support to students in schools, homes, and community-based locations
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and therapists to ensure comprehensive support for students
• Conduct initial assessments, progress monitoring, and evaluations to inform planning and progress
• Stay up-to-date with best practices in autism education and related therapies
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills

Education

Master's degree in Special Education or related field
