Qualifications

• Requires Professional Educator License (PEL) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Endorsement in LBS1 is required.
• Knowledge of special education curriculum and best practices.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Experience teaching special education is preferred.
• Experience in K–12 district preferred.
• Experience with inclusive practices and diverse student populations.
• Strong instructional planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Effective classroom and behavior management.
• Commitment to equity and inclusion.
• Collaborative, flexible, and reflective teaching practices.

Responsibilities

• Plans effectively for instruction; maintains written plans aligned with district guidelines and student needs.
• Employs varied instructional strategies considering individual differences and objectives.
• Communicates lesson purpose and ties to short/long term goals.
• Communicates accurately with students, parents, and staff.
• Assesses student progress formally and informally.
• Maintains an appropriate learning environment and safety standards.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Participates in building and district committees.
• Shows punctuality for assignments and meetings.
• Performs duties listed in contractual agreements for classroom roles.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
