ALTON COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 11 is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant - Autism/Life Skills for 7 hours per day, 178 days per year.

Under the supervision of a special education teacher, you will assist students with daily activities, provide academic support, and help implement individualized education plans to foster safety and learning. The role requires paraprofessional licensure, reliable attendance, ability to stand for long periods, lift to 30 pounds, and willingness

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional Licensure is required.
• Excellent attendance record is essential.
• Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
• Support to students across various subjects under guidance of certified staff.
• Cooperate within professional teams to support instruction and management.
• Willingness to participate in training related to duties.

Responsabilités

• Assist special education students in daily activities, ensuring safety and engagement.
• Support academic tasks in reading, writing, math, and other subjects.
• Adapt and modify instructional materials for unique learning needs.
• Foster communication and social interaction among students.
• Provide positive reinforcement and behavior support.
• Follow directives to provide feedback on IEP performance.
• Assist 1:1/small group interventions as needed.
• Stay up-to-date with best practices for special education needs.
• Familiarize students with assistive technology tools.
• May assist with mobility and personal care as required.
• Maintain records of progress and behavior.
• Attend relevant workshops and CPI training.
