Job summary

The Newark Board of Education invites applications for a Teacher of Special Education-Autism. This position requires a valid NJDOE certificate/CE/CEAS as appropriate and a preferred Bachelor's degree.

You will plan individualized instruction, monitor progress, and collaborate with families and staff to support student success. The role is a 10-month contract in Newark with a salary range of $70,000 to $114,750 and comprehensive benefits for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• NJ Department of Education Standard Certificate, CE, or CEAS as deemed necessary by certs and titles.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred unless otherwise specified by the NJDOE.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study meeting student needs, interests and abilities.
• Evaluates student progress and prepares progress reports.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic communications skills as per state law and district procedures.
• Provides individual and group instruction adapted to varying intellectual and special needs.
• Maintains standards of pupil behavior and uses instructional materials and inventories.
• Develops instructional plans and coordinates class time for a balanced program.
• Engages in professional growth activities and participates in in-service education.
• Coordinates work of aides, teacher assistants and paraprofessionals.
• Communicates with parents and pupil personnel staff about student progress.
• Performs duties assigned by Supervisor.

Education

NJDOE certificate/CE/CEAS as required by NJDOE certs and titles
