Responsibilities

• Plan individualized or cooperative programs of study to meet student needs.
• Help establish curriculum objectives and evaluation plans.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student maturity.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals and set clear lesson objectives.
• Employ instructional methods and materials appropriate for stated objectives.
• Assess student progress and provide regular reports.
• Diagnose learning strengths/weaknesses and involve District specialists as needed.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
• Implement policies governing student life and conduct and maintain classroom order.
• Plan assignments for support staff and volunteers and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Use technology in teaching and learning processes.
• Maintain accurate records and reports as required by law and policy.
• Adhere to ethical codes in education and district policies.
• Support school improvement initiatives and participate in activities.
• Recognize signs of student distress or abuse and take appropriate action.
• Establish appropriate testing environment and ensure testing security.
