Job summary

The Summit Center in Amherst NY seeks a Teacher (SAE) to lead classroom activities and coordinate a transdisciplinary team. You will design lessons, monitor progress, and ensure each student’s IEP requirements are met, while collaborating with specialists to support overall development and behavior interventions.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Special Education with a NYS Special Education certificate; a Master's is preferred.

Qualifications

• Review and implement all educational requirements in each student’s IEP.
• Establish curricula and monitor data collection and charting systems.
• Implement behavior management procedures developed by the treatment team.
• Supervise Behavior Specialists and ensure a safe learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the classroom as the transdisciplinary team coordinator and plan lessons.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, psychologists, and analysts.
• Support student well-being and contribute to program development.
• Coordinate and communicate with families and external service providers.
