Job summary

Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, AZ, is seeking a full-time Behavior Support Assistant for Specialized Student Services. The role supports children with Autism Spectrum Disorder using applied behavior analysis, under supervision of a BCBA and the Coordinator of Specialized Programs, and includes data collection and progress review.

Responsibilities include implementing learning programs, behavior plans, crisis management, and collaboration with staff to maintain a safe, positive classroom

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma.
• Experience working with students with significant emotional and behavioral disabilities preferred.
• Strong ability to implement behavior support and crisis management techniques.
• Proficiency with basic software tools (Word, Excel) and data collection for behavior tracking.

Responsibilities

• Implement learning programs for communication, self-help, and play skills as directed by the BCBA.
• Implement behavior intervention plans for students with challenging behaviors.
• Collect and analyze behavioral data to track progress and adjust plans.
• Respond to problem behaviors per the plan and district policies.
• Provide district-approved support tasks and manage crisis-related procedures.
• Accompany students across campus and supervise groups to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Maintain classroom equipment and model professional, respectful behavior.
• Attend meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance and assist colleagues as needed.
