Job summary

Rochester Community Schools seeks an ASD paraprofessional to support special education students at Van Hoosen Middle School. The role is full-time, 7 hours daily, Monday through Friday, following the traditional 2026-2027 calendar.

Compensation is $18.00 per hour under the Rochester Paraeducator Association Master Agreement. The paraeducator will assist with instructional tasks, mobility, and personal care needs while following established student learning plans and behavioral programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Experience with people with disabilities preferred or training in interacting with students with disabilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Excellent attendance, flexibility, and competence for student needs.
• Regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
• Alternatives acceptable to the Board may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Takes direction from building staff and reports to educators.
• Assists with orientation, reading, music, art, PE and other curriculum tasks.
• Follows prescribed behavioral management programs.
• Assists with development of instructional materials and program implementation.
• Assists with student mobility, including bus unloading and arrival to building.
• Assists with daily living activities and personal care as needed.
• Participates in school activities such as lunch, recess, and PE.
• Reports progress and difficulties to the appropriate educator in a timely manner.
• Assists with routine classroom operations and material preparation.
• Supervises students during non-classroom activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned by staff or principal.
