Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in East Palo Alto, CA, seeks a Database Engineer to help migrate, scale, and shard high-volume transactional databases within the Aurora managed service.

You will collaborate with developers, product managers, and customers across the full product cycle, contributing to design, validation, and customer adoption while addressing distributed transaction challenges. The role emphasizes performance, reliability, and pushing innovations in database technologies,

Qualifications

• 5+ knowledge of system architecture, optimization, reliability analysis, and decision making.
• 5+ years relational database technology experience (MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL, Redshift).
• 3+ experience in operations of highly available internet systems with large customer base.
• 3+ knowledge of EC2, ELB, RDS, VPC, Route53, S3.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers to understand challenges and guide troubleshooting during escalations.
• Act as the voice of the customer to inform engineering on feature needs and end-to-end tests.
• Drive feature enhancements, resolve root causes, and improve performance of the managed DB service.
• Contribute to automation solutions to boost operational efficiency.
• Engage with open-source community via forums, conferences, and submissions.
