Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation, based in Austin, is seeking an External Auditor III or IV in the Compliance Division to perform complex audits of financial, administrative, and technical functions, and to evaluate contracts and grants for compliance with department policies and laws.

The role offers pathways to professional certifications (CPA, CFE, etc.) with coverage for study materials and CPD requirements, plus a comprehensive benefits package and a day-shift onsite schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in a related discipline required.
• Experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or related fields; CPA/CFE/CIA/CGAP/CISA/CISSP/CMA substitutions may apply.
• Current certification substitutions may replace up to one year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex audit work to determine compliance with policies, procedures, directives and laws.
• Plans and conducts audits in accordance with professional auditing standards.
• Prepares final audit reports for Department management and the Texas Transportation Commission.
• Provides expert assistance regarding compliance requirements to departmental executives, managers and supervisors.
• Leads, coordinates, and oversees audit field work and manages multiple projects to meet deadlines.
