Job summary

First Bank & Trust is seeking an experienced Auditor to evaluate internal controls, assess regulatory compliance, and improve audit programs. This role covers diverse financial operations, testing procedures, and reporting findings to management.

The candidate will perform walk-throughs, conduct fieldwork, and stay current with banking regulations and technology trends. Collaboration with external auditors and participation in policy reviews are included in this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related business field with five years of audit experience or equivalent.
• Audit or compliance certification from a bank trade association.
• Strong understanding of bank operations, regulatory compliance, and auditing/accounting skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Plan scope of audits and prepare audit programs for review.
• Understand operations, internal controls, and regulatory impact.
• Perform walk-throughs and conduct audit fieldwork independently.
• Evaluate internal controls and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Develop work papers per departmental standards.
• Test procedures, accounts and transactions.
• Summarize findings and prepare audit reports.
• Communicate results to affected personnel and management.
• Participate in committee meetings and evaluate policies, procedures, systems, products.
• Maintain current knowledge of auditing, banking, regulatory compliance, and technology.
• Assist external auditors as assigned.
• Follow policies and participate in required compliance training.

This individual performs a wide range of audits; evaluates the internal control structure; assesses compliance with laws, regulations, bank policies, and procedures; updates audit programs; and performs tests and prepares reports.
