Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking an Auditor I for the Ada District Office. The role involves using accounting and auditing skills to conduct financial, operational, and federal compliance audits for county governments in several districts, with travel and possible overnight stays.

The position requires a bachelor’s in accounting or related field (or two years of audit experience), strong communication, proficiency in Excel/Word, and a valid driver's license. On-site work only under current posting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related business field, or minimum two years’ accounting/audit experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP, generally accepted auditing standards, and Government Auditing Standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform financial, operational, and federal compliance audits for county governments and other entities (Pittsburg, Latimer, Atoka, Bryan, Choctaw, Pontotoc, McCurtain).
• Travel to audit sites; overnight stays may be required; cannot audit in residence county.

Responsibilities

As a team member you will utilize your accounting and auditing skills to perform financial, operational, and federal compliance audits for county governments and other political entities, which include the following county courthouses: Pittsburg, Latimer, Atoka, Bryan, Choctaw, Pontotoc, and McCurtain. Flexibility with travel and overnight arrangements are essential for this position as travel to audit sites will be required and overnight stays possible for some audits. Please note, selected applicant will not be able to perform auditing work within the same county they reside.

Education/Experience

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, or other business-related field, or a minimum of two years’ experience in an accounting and/or audit environment is necessary. Official transcript is required when applying. We are interested in candidates who have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, generally accepted auditing standards, and Government Auditing Standards and who possess strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability and desire to work as part of a team, proficiency in Excel and Word, and a valid driver’s license.

Preference given to applicants who demonstrate strong critical thinking skills and those who have strong communication and time management skills, the ability to build effective working relationships, and a strong interest in continued professional development.

Work Arrangements

On-site or in-person work only. Telework is not authorized for this position.

Salary/Benefits

• Competitive salary - entry level $48,000 - $52,000 range; salary is commensurate with education and experience.
