Job summary

FSA Federal, a part of the U.S. Trustee Program, seeks a midlevel Auditor/Financial Analyst IV to support bankruptcy and financial analyses in the regional office. You will examine corporate structures, review reports, and assist counsel with case reviews and compliance.

The role requires a graduate degree and professional certifications (CIRA, CFE or CPA). The position offers mission-driven work with collaboration across legal and financial teams in New York, NY.

Responsibilities

• Examine corporate structures, assets, liabilities and debt viability to assess operating plans.
• Assist counsel in bankruptcy case reviews and verify financial document adequacy.
• Review reports and assist with analysis of bankruptcy cases and trustee oversight.
• Review trustee audits for thoroughness and weaknesses requiring action.
• Review trustee accounting statements to ensure bond level requirements are met.
• Perform other legal, accounting and financial tasks for the regional office.
• Collaborate with USTP staff on chapter 7, 12 and 13 matters.
• Provide reports and work products to the appropriate government official.

Responsibiilities

• Examine corporate structures, including assets, liabilities encompassing both secured and unsecured debt, competence of management, income, and expenditures to determine the feasibility of the debtor's short and long-term operating plans and the viability of the business' continued operation.
• Assist the counsel in reviews and analysis of bankruptcy cases submitted by individual debtors and determine adequacy and accuracy of financial documents submitted.
• Perform technical review of reports and assist counsel with the analysis of bankruptcy cases administered by standing and panel trustees and determine their adequacy, accuracy, and compliance with standard business principles and practices.
• Review audits of trustees performed by Independent Public Accountants for thoroughness and adequacy, and to identify substantive weaknesses in trustee performance requiring corrective action to the appropriate government official.
• Review trustee accounting statements on a regular basis to ensure the trustee satisfies bond level requirements and make recommendations to the appropriate government official.
• Perform other legal tasks as directed by the United States Trustee or designee to include but not limited to accounting, financial analysis, investigative, research and other business-related tasks for the regional office.
• Collaborate closely with USTP staff in the region on a wide-range of matters involving the oversight of chapter 7, 12, and 13 trustees.
• AFA shall provide reports and all other associated work products for each assignment to the appropriate government official.

The Bankruptcy Auditor / Financial Analyst IV shall have the following minimum qualifications:

• Minimum Experience: Fifteen (15) years of experience (required) / Twenty (20) years of experience (preferred)
• Minimum Education: Graduate level degree (required)
• One (1) or more Certification (required):
  • Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA)
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
