Job summary

Community Action Center is seeking an Energy Auditor to plan and implement energy conservation improvements. Responsibilities include energy audits, building inspections, and developing work lists, under the Weatherization Program Manager.

You will perform energy analyses, coordinate schedules and bids, and work with homeowners, renters and contractors. The role requires hands-on construction skills and certification within a year in energy auditing and lead hazard paint assessment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years experience in residential construction.
• Certification within 1 year in energy auditing, lead hazard paint assessment and hazard reduction supervision

Responsibilities

• Prepare energy audit/heat loss analysis and building condition inspections.
• Develop improvement work lists for each project.
• Prepare and execute Owner Agreements and integrate energy conservation education with projects.
• Prepare and maintain a 1-2 month production and project schedule.
• Prepare bid packages and review bids from contractors.
• Maintain vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules.
• Complete building condition inspections and lead-based paint assessments.
• Provide information for program reports and assist with project files.

Job description

Definition: Responsible for a wide variety of tasks in planning and implementing the energy conservation improvement. The responsibilities include completing energy audits, completing building condition inspections; developing job work lists, scheduling projects; The Auditor works under the direction of the Weatherization Program Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Energy Auditing and Energy Conservation Education

• Prepare energy audit/heat loss analysis and building condition inspections that identifies cost effective improvements and health and safety problems
• Develop improvement work lists for each project
• Prepare and execute Owner Agreements, and
• Integrate energy conservation education with each improvement project

Construction Management

• Prepare and maintain a 1 to 2 month production and project schedule for energy audits, and energy conservation work
• Prepare bid packages, solicit bids from contractors and review the submitted bids,
• Prepare vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules and ensures that all maintenance is completed as needed

Construction Work

• Work in an effective and productive manner while completing high quality work
• Provide information for program reports
• Assist with the maintenance of project files
• Complete building condition inspections and lead based paint assessments
• Complete other work assigned by the Program Manager

• Use spreadsheet and word processing programs on personal computers
• Complete carpentry, plumbing, insulation, roofing, siding and related home repairs and improvements,
• Safely operate and maintain construction equipment and vehicles
• Lift, move and carry construction material, and testing equipment (blower doors) that generally weigh 50 to 100 pounds and may weigh up to 150 pounds
• Develop program improvement concepts and proposals

Ability To

• Learn about home repair and energy conservation improvement standards, methods, techniques and materials
• Learn how to use time more effectively while completing high quality work
• Work with people from different demographic, economic, ethnic, racial, educational and social backgrounds

Other Requirements

• Obtain certification within 1 year in energy auditing, lead hazard paint assessment and hazard reduction supervision
• Ability to drive, a valid driver’s license and personal transportation,
• Insurability and ability to be bonded
• Willingness to work throughout Whitman County

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of three years experience in residential construction including home repair, remodeling and energy conservation improvements
