Job summary

The Department of the Auditor General (DAG) seeks an Auditor 4 to supervise county audits and ensure proper assessment and remittance of fines, costs, taxes, and surcharges. Telework may be available with conditions; otherwise report to the Harrisburg area headquarters in PA.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related fields and relevant auditing experience, with preferred certifications such as CPA or CIA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with major in accounting, business, computer science, data analytics, finance, economics, IT, or math
• One year experience as Auditor 3, Liquor Store Examiner 3, or a Management Trainee OR four years of accounting/auditing experience including supervisory experience OR any equivalent combination including a bachelor’s degree in the listed fields.

Responsibilities

• Supervise county audits and ensure fines, costs, fees, taxes, restitution, and surcharges are properly assessed and remitted.
• Research laws, regulations, guidelines, and auditing standards and apply them to audit work.
• Locate, evaluate, and analyze records and other information.
• Create, input, access, and retrieve data related to audit papers and reports.
• Make non-policy program decisions within the audit framework.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The DAG is looking to fill one (1) Auditor 4 position within the Bureau of County Audits - District Court and Row Offices. The Auditor 4 position is responsible for supervising the work of County audits and ensuring that commonwealth fines, costs, fees, taxes, restitution, and surcharges are properly assessed, collected, receipted, and remitted to the appropriate state agency. The Auditor 4 motivates, empowers, and builds teamwork, providing mentor ship and on-the-job trainingto the audit staff. Work duties include, but are not limited to:

• Legal Research: Research laws, regulations, guidelines, and auditing standards and apply them to audit work
• Record Analysis: Locate, evaluate, and analyze records and other information
• Data Management: Create, input, access, and retrieve data related to audit papers, audit findings, as well as audit and administrative reports
• Program Decisions: Make non-policy decisions that stay within the structure of the established audit program

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, business, computer science, data analytics, finance, economics, information technology, math, or a closely related field AND one year experience as an Auditor 3, Liquor Store Examiner 3, or a Management Trainee; or
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, business, computer science, data analytics, finance, economics, information technology, math, or a closely related field AND four years of accounting/auditing experience, including one year of supervisory accounting or auditing experience; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, business, computer science, data analytics, finance, economics, information technology, math, or a closely related field.

Additional Requirements:

• You must be a Pennsylvania resident at the time of hire.
• You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license by the time of hire.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• One or more of the following certifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
  • Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP)
  • Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM)
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
