Job summary

New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) is seeking an Internal Auditor Trainee 1 to support audit activities across indemnity and disability benefits payments, ensuring compliance with NYS Workers’ Compensation and DB/PFL Law, and internal NYSIF policies.

The role involves reviewing medical payments, providing feedback to the Claims department, and generating monthly audit reports, while liaising with claims, legal and executive teams to determine financial impact and improve controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in specified area is required.
• Two years of professional experience in internal audits, financial statement audits, compliance reviews, or program research is expected for the Auditor 1 level.
• A JD or master's degree can substitute for one year of specialized experience.

Responsibilities

• Audit indemnity and DB/PFL payments in accordance with NYS regulations and NYSIF policies.
• Review and post audit medical payments re-priced by third party processor.
• Provide feedback and recommendations to the Claims department.
• Generate monthly reports to track audits and determine financial impact.
• Act as a liaison between Audit and Review and other departments (claims, legal, executive).
