Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown, PC is seeking an Audit Engagement leader in New York to guide planning, execution, and completion of audits, reviews, or compilations for a diverse client base across multiple industries.

You will supervise staff, coordinate with engagement partners, manage budgets, and ensure timely delivery while upholding US GAAP standards. A CPA and 3+ years of public accounting are required, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • CPA license, or working toward CPA certification with parts passed.
  • At least 3 years of public accounting experience, with experience leading multiple engagements and supervising staff.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and auditing skills including familiarity with US GAAP.
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects.
  • Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, plus excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to represent the Firm to clients’ management.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, project management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engagement team staff on the planning, execution, and completion of an audit, review or compilation engagement to deliver world‑class client service.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the audit engagement, including staffing, planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, financial reporting, and conclusion.
  • Supervise and support engagement staff, seniors and supervisors, promoting open communication with the engagement partner.
  • Collaborate with engagement team seniors, supervisors and partners on client issue resolution, making recommendations for any legal, regulatory or accounting issues that arise.
  • Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to meet client deadlines efficiently.
  • Create and track engagement budgets, reviewing for inefficiencies during the audit.
  • Conduct constructive discussions with team members on their evaluations and provide counsel accordingly.
  • Serve in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader.

Withum's Auditing and Attest Engagement services are the cornerstone of our firm. Withum’s audit and advisory team possess the expertise necessary to give stakeholders confidence in financial information. This team provides audit services, review and compilation services and other agreed upon audit procedures to a variety of client sizes and industries.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $110,000–$120,000. In addition to base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and a bonus program for eligible roles based on individual and firm performance.
