Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown, PC in Whippany, NJ is seeking an Audit professional to lead engagements for healthcare clients, supervising staff and coordinating with managers and partners. You will work closely with a team of seasoned CPAs and industry leaders focused on healthcare.

You will oversee planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, financial reporting, and client communication to deliver world‑class service. A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, with CPA or progress toward CPA, 2+ years

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• Licensed CPA, or working toward CPA certification.
• At least 2 years of public accounting experience, with experience leading multiple engagements and supervising staff.
• Experience serving clients in the healthcare industry, including healthcare systems, hospitals, post‑acute care facilities, and both for‑profit and not‑for‑profit entities.
• Understanding of uniform guidance as it relates to healthcare organizations.
• Excellent analytical, technical, and audit skills including familiarity with US GAAP.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engagement team staff on the planning and execution of an audit, review or compilation engagement to effectively and efficiently provide world‑class client service.
• Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the audit engagement from staffing, planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, financial reporting and the conclusion.
• Provide supervision and support to the engagement staff and promote open communication to the engagement manager and partner.
• Collaborate with managers and partners on client issue resolutions and make recommendations for any legal, regulatory and accounting issues that arise during an audit engagement.
• Review all scheduled and non‑scheduled general ledger accounts for accurate entries.
• Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to efficiently meet client deadlines.
• Create and track engagement budgets to review for inefficiencies that may arise during the audit.
• Conduct constructive discussions with team members on their evaluations and provide counsel accordingly.
• Serve in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader.

Withum’s Auditing and Attest Engagement services are the cornerstone of our firm. Our audit and advisory team provides audit services, review and compilation services, and other agreed upon audit procedures to a variety of client sizes and industries. The successful candidate will work exclusively with Withum’s Healthcare Services group, providing audit services to healthcare organizations, and will work with a team of seasoned, well‑known CPAs and industry leaders focused on the healthcare industry.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, project management skills, strong attention to detail, and proven innovative problem‑solving skill.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

• Whippany, NJ ranges are from $80,000 – $97,500 annually.
• New York City ranges are from $85,000 – $105,000 annually.

In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance.
