Position Overview

They are seeking a skilled and proactive Audit Supervisor with advanced technical skills to join their audit practice.

The Audit Supervisor serves as a key bridge between field staff and engagement managers/partners, leading audit engagements for diverse commercial, non-profit, and middle-market entities. This role is ideal for a licensed CPA with deep knowledge of accounting pronouncements and attestation standards who is passionate about staff development, client management, and practice growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, plan, and execute audit, review, and compilation engagements across a diverse range of client industries.
  • Review engagement work papers, financial statements, and disclosures for compliance with US GAAP, GAAS, and professional attestation standards.
  • Ensure engagements are completed efficiently, within budget, and in accordance with firm quality control guidelines.
  • Address and resolve complex technical accounting and auditing issues encountered during field work.
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach audit staff and interns throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Delegate audit testing procedures, monitor workflow, and provide real-time feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Actively participate in firm training, staff development initiatives, and team-building efforts.
  • Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for client executives and financial management, building lasting partnerships based on technical expertise and trust.
  • Effectively communicate audit findings, internal control recommendations, and technical updates to client leadership.
  • Participate in practice development by identifying opportunities to expand firm services to existing and prospective clients.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of technical requirements and keep up to date on recent FASB updates, AICPA pronouncements, and regulatory shifts.
Qualifications:
  • Active NYS Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of public accounting experience with a strong background in financial statement auditing.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of US GAAP, GAAS, and recent accounting pronouncements across multiple industries.
  • Proven track record of managing audit engagements and a strong commitment to developing, coaching, and evaluating junior staff.
  • Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize complex accounting matters clearly.
  • Ability to travel locally for same-day work at client locations as required.
