Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking an experienced audit professional to lead and own audit engagements, mentor junior staff, and strengthen client relationships in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

You will work with Managers and Partners across industries, applying GAAP and auditing standards while advancing your leadership skills and career toward Audit Manager opportunities. This on-site Portland, ME role supports a flexible, employee-first culture.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of audit and attest experience in public accounting.
• Progression to Senior-level responsibilities, including ownership and supervision.
• CPA license or active progress toward licensure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; substantial accounting coursework.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and auditing standards.
• Experience preparing/reviewing financial statements and audit workpapers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with experienced Managers and Partners across a diverse portfolio of clients and industries.

Location: This is a full-time, on-site opportunity based in Portland, Maine. New employees typically work full-time in the office during their first year to build strong relationships and become fully integrated with the team, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule afterward if preferred. Note: Candidates must have 2+ years of audit and attest experience within public accounting and have progressed beyond a purely Associate-level role, with experience reviewing work, supervising junior professionals, or taking meaningful ownership of engagements. A CPA license or active progress toward CPA licensure is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of public accounting audit and attest experience.
• Current or prior Senior-level audit responsibilities, including engagement ownership, workpaper review, or junior staff supervision.
• CPA license or active progress toward CPA licensure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field with substantial accounting coursework.
• Coursework sufficient to meet CPA licensure requirements.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and professional auditing standards.
• Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and audit workpapers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
• Experience with Caseware, CaseView, Suralink, or similar audit software preferred.
