Job summary

BMSS Advisors & CPAs, a top 100 CPA and advisory firm, seeks a Senior Accountant to lead audits, reviews, and assurance engagements for diverse clients. You’ll work directly with clients to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance, collaborating in a supportive, mentorship-driven environment.

Ideal candidates are CPA-eligible with 3–5+ years in public accounting, strong GAAP/GAAS knowledge, and proficiency in CaseWare and ProSystem fx Engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master’s or CPA preferred.
• CPA license or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam.
• 3–5+ years of public accounting experience focused on audit/assurance.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP/GAAS and internal controls.
• Proficient in MS Office and audit/accounting software such as CaseWare and ProSystem fx Engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead audits, reviews, and compilations from planning through completion.
• Prepare and review workpapers and financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other standards.
• Mentor junior staff and manage multiple client engagements.
• Conduct internal control and risk assessments to identify improvements.
• Communicate engagement progress and findings with clients.

The Opportunity

We're actively seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. In this role, you'll take the lead on audits, reviews, and other assurance engagements for a diverse range of clients. You'll work directly with clients, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance every step of the way.

What You'll Do

• Lead audits, reviews, and compilations from planning through completion
• Prepare and review workpapers and financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other applicable standards
• Mentor junior staff and manage multiple client engagements
• Conduct internal control and risk assessments to identify process improvement opportunities
• Communicate proactively with clients regarding engagement progress, audit findings, and recommendations
• Research and resolve complex accounting and auditing issues
• Ensure engagements comply with professional and firm standards, as well as deadlines

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's or CPA preferred)
• CPA license or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam
• 3-5+ years of public accounting experience focused on audit/assurance
• Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and internal controls
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and audit/accounting software (e.g., CaseWare, ProSystem fx Engagement)
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and teams
